Special event in cooperation with the Buchenwald Memorial
July 31, Sun from 10 a.m. @Start at the Weimar Central Train Station
In a very special event on On July 31, the wartime deporation of 115 Jewish youth from Hungary to Buchenwald will be commemorated. A 7.5 kilometer public gathering and guided walk follows the path of train tracks that once led from the Weimar Central Train Station to the former Buchenwald concentration camp. At resting points along the way, Yiddish Summer Weimar artists will contribute moments of musical and poetic reflection, culminating in a large official ceremony with music at the Buchenwald Memorial. We invite everyone to meet us at the point of departure – the Weimar Central Train Station – at 10 am, July 31. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing appropriate for an easy but long walk.
