Areti Kamilaki (GK; violin)

Areti Kamilaki was born in Chania, Crete, Greece. She began to study both folk and classical violin at the conservatory of Metropolis at the age of 6.
She studied at the Department of Music Science & Art of UoM in Thessaloniki, specializing in “Vocal and Instrumental Musical Performance of Greek Traditional (Folk) Music-Violin,” graduating with first-class honors.

Areit holds two masters’ degrees:  “Education and Disability. Emotional and Affective Dynamic” from the University of Rome and  “Sports Tourism, Event organizing, Dance” with a specialization in Dance from the Democritus University of Thrace.

She has taught in music schools and over the last decade, she has worked as a teacher in special education high schools. She conduct systematic research on the effects of traditional music and dance on people with disabilities, and continues to teach violin as well.

She has participated in recordings while touring for concerts, seminars and performances in Greece and abroad  in collaboraton with many distinguished musicians.
