Yiddish & Greek Music Reunited

20 years ago, Brave Old World and the Smyrna Trio opened the gate to a revival of the centuries-old exchange between Yiddish and Greco-Turkish music. This year, members of those legendary ensembles re-unite for the first time at Yiddish Summer Weimar to renew their collaboration. Featuring passionate songs in Yiddish and Greek about exile, unrequited love, underworld characters and historic events, as well as driving, sensual dance tunes performed with virtuosity by acknowledged masters of their traditions.

Alan Bern (USA/D) - accordion, piano, music director
Christian Dawid (D) - wind instruments
Kyriakos Gouventas (GR) - violin, baglama
